Blake Lewis captivated viewers and even the much-maligned Sanjaya Malakar made a surprisingly strong showing last Tuesday on “American Idol.” But the best performance didn’t come from the contestants on Fox’s top-rated program. It came from guest Jennifer Lopez, who didn’t even need to sing to draw raves.
Lopez was the latest celebrity to appear in taped segments on the Tuesday show to help the would-be Idols prepare for that week’s related theme. And she was brilliant, the best so far.
“American Idol” has been on a tear this season with its celebrity mentors. They’ve all been good, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be ranked from best to worst. Via Belleville
Sanjaya Malakar’s ‘American Idol’ dreams have been squashed. The contestant people loved to hate got the boot on Wednesday’s ‘AI’ elimination show. After weeks of poor performances, it seemed the 17-year-old would never be ousted. But after 38 million votes by ‘AI’ viewers, it was Malakar, not LaKisha Jones or Blake Lewis (who rounded out the bottom three spots), who bid viewers adieu with a version of Bonnie Raitt’s ‘Something to Talk About.’ Via Twincities
